About This Book

The Book selectively represents the chemmotological aspects of providing sustasinable development of modern transport sector. It is devoted to the modern problems of rational use of traditional and alternative fuels, lubricants and other operational materials during exploitation of road and air transport.  

 

This book, Chemmotological Aspects of Providing Sustasinable Development of Transport is complies selected outstanding papers presented at the VIІI International Scientific-Technical Conference «Problems of Chemmotology. Theory and Practice of Rational use of Traditional and Alternative Fuels & Lubricants». This event was held in Kamianets-Pidilskyi, Ukraine, from June 21, 2022, to June 25, 2022 with the participation of researchers, scientists, practicians, and academics all over the world. 

 

The book is composed of 6 parts and 28 chapters in total. All chapters presented by the authors (co-authors) are published in the author’s edition and aims to present an issue on how to achieve more sustainable development of modern transport. The first part of the book represents the current state of development of theoretical fundamentals of aviation chemmotology. The second part include recent studies in chemical, biotechnology and engineering. The third part of the book include results of the studies on interrelations of quality of fuels, lubricants and technical liquids with chemmotological reliability, operation efficiency and economy of road and air transport. Th forth part presents results of the researches devoted to practical aspects of jet fuel supply. Modern tendencies in development of aviation engines construction, environmental safety and fuel efficiency of power units are presented in papers of the fifth part. And the sixth part of the book complies studies aimed on impact of aviation on environment and development of ecologistics, system of utilization and recycling of transport operation materials.

About The Series Editors

T. Hikmet Karakoc, PhD, is a Full Professor with the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Eskisehir Technical University. He received his MSc from Yıldız Technical University (1983) and his PhD from Anadolu University (1987). Professor Karakoc is the Editor- in-Chief of the International Journal of Sustainable Aviation, has published many papers at various national and international conferences, and has authored and edited several books. His research areas include aviation, energy and energy economy, gas turbine engines, fuels, isolation and installation.

 

Can Özgür Çolpan, PhD, received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Middle East Technical University in 2003 and 2005, respectively. He conducted his PhD studies at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of Carleton University between 2005 and 2009. He continued his studies as a post-doctoral researcher there between 2009 and 2010 and at Ryerson University between 2010 and 2012. He has been working as a member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Dokuz Eylül University since 2012. In 2014 and 2019, he was appointed to the positions of Associate Professor and Professor, respectively. Dr. Çolpan has conducted research in the field of fuel cells and hydrogen and the mathematical modeling of integrated energy systems. His areas of research include modeling of direct internal reforming solid oxide fuel cells, material development and mathematical modeling for direct methanol fuel cells, development of high temperature PEM fuel cells, simulation and optimization of the fuel cell vehicle powertrains, catalytic dehydrogenation of solid hydrogen storage materials, analysis of organic Rankine cycle based systems, and analysis of biofuel fueled turbojet.

 

Alper Dalkıran, PhD, received his bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Eskisehir Technical University. He completed hi MSc degree in the School of Science at Anadolu University, and earned his PhD in 2017 on Environmental Sustainability of Airports from the School of Science at Anadolu University. He is currently working in the School of Aviation at Suleyman Demirel University.
